As an all girls school we shall all the good times together and one of our greatest times is celebrating success.  Not only do we set our standards higher than we, as a school and individually, are predicted, but we raise the bar and smash it!

It is not all easy and together we study in an interesting and hard-working environment, with a diligent atmosphere.  Over the years we are becoming ever more recognised in the community for our success.  My fellow students and I are regularly rewarded with a mufti for various accomplishments, such as attendance, teamwork, assemblies, etc.

I would like to mention our extremely successful vertical tutoring, whereby we have an average of four girls from each year placed in a form group together.  Each form is then placed as a whole into one of our five houses; Amber, Amethyst, Ruby, Sapphire and Topaz.  This has been a successful change from the traditional form tutoring system.  In each form group there is a prefect, a peer mentor, a member of the student council and possibly a senior prefect, guiding the form and demonstrating their leadership in a really positive way.

Developing our students’ success if not only important to us in English and Maths, but also in other areas they are passionate about, extending to Art, Drama, Music and extra curricular activities so many of our students participate in, particularly school teams within the PE department.  By encouraging our fellow students to become successful in areas they are passionate about brings a confidence which will be a passport leading to them achieving their potential.

ICT mark

'Local school gets high tech accolade'

Children at Glenmoor are at the forefront of using information and communications technology (ICT) to enhance their work, and that’s official!

Following an extensive external assessment, Glenmoor has been awarded the prestigious ICT Mark by Becta, the government-funded body responsible for promoting the use of ICT in Britain’s schools and colleges.

The award recognises the school’s success in developing the strategic use of ICT in both administration and across the curriculum. Parents will have proof that their children are attending a school at the forefront of modern technology.

Glenmoor staff and students should be congratulated on this wonderful achievement. This demonstrates the excellent ICT management and teaching that is taking place in local schools.

Head teacher Roger Allen commented “We are delighted to be awarded the ICT Mark. It recognises our positive approach to ICT and the benefits it is bringing to our children. We believe that ICT can be used in every aspect of learning and that it is essential our children are equipped for the modern world.”

Niel McLean, Executive Director for Schools and Families at Becta said "Glenmoor thoroughly deserve the accolade of an ICT mark. They clearly demonstrate how important it is to take a holistic approach to using ICT in schools. Their investment in new technology has contributed to substantial improvements in learning."

Student Targets
A number of parents were not aware of their daughters’ target levels and grades. In response to this all staff have this week ensured that every student has their targets for all subjects entered on the relevant page in their school planner.
Should you have any concerns about your daughter’s targets, or any other issue, please do not hesitate to contact me at the school and I will be happy to discuss this with you.
